Stock Market Today, 3 November 2026: GIFT Nifty, Sensex and Nifty Pre-Market Cues, FII DII Data and Stocks to Watch
November 3, 2026 | by NammaStockMarket
NSE pre-market report · Data as of 8:20 AM IST · NSE and BSE open at 9:15 AM IST
Good morning, and welcome to your daily chai-and-charts round-up of the share market today. Yesterday was a cracker — the Sensex jumped over 1,200 points and the Nifty 50 and Sensex both closed up about 1.7%, helped along by a big rally in Reliance and metal stocks. This morning the picture is a bit more mixed: GIFT Nifty today is still holding above Nifty’s closing level, but Asian markets have turned soft because global investors are pulling money out of technology shares. We also have fresh FII DII data showing foreign investors came back as buyers, and today happens to be Nifty’s weekly F&O expiry — so expect some extra swings in the afternoon. Let’s go through the numbers, one cup at a time.
A quick word before we start: we don’t do “Nifty prediction today” here. Nobody can tell you where the index will close. What we can do is lay out the actual data — the global cues, the levels traders are watching, the money flows — and let you make up your own mind.
1. Global Market Cues Today: US Markets, Asian Markets, Crude Oil and Rupee
Indian markets rarely open in a vacuum. What happened on Wall Street overnight and what Asia is doing right now usually sets the opening mood. Here’s the scoreboard.
US markets (close, Monday 2 November 2026) — a split verdict. The Dow held on to a gain, but technology-heavy indices fell as investors worried about how much the big AI companies are spending.
| Index | Close | Change | % Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dow Jones Industrial Average | 51,983.98 | +213.67 | +0.41% |
| S&P 500 | 7,541.40 | −38.67 | −0.51% |
| Nasdaq Composite | 25,164.32 | −272.68 | −1.07% |
Two things drove the US session. First, crude oil crashed over 7% on hopes of a deal to end the Iran conflict. That lifted airlines and consumer names but hammered energy stocks (Exxon fell about 4%). Second, an afternoon sell-off in tech, with Marvell down nearly 13% after announcing a large all-stock acquisition of Lumentum. On the economy, the US ISM manufacturing index came in at 55.5 for October, better than the 54.5 expected.
Asian markets today (3 November, morning) — trading lower, as the AI-spending worry travelled east.
| Market | % Change (morning) | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Nikkei 225 (Japan) | −0.33% | Tech-led weakness |
| KOSPI (South Korea) | −2.40% | Sharpest fall in the region; chip-heavy index |
| US Dow futures | −0.30% | Ahead of the US midterm elections |
| US S&P 500 futures | +0.09% | Broadly flat |
Levels for Hang Seng, Shanghai Composite and Taiwan Weighted were not published in the sources we checked this morning, so we’ve left them out rather than guess.
Crude oil, rupee and other cues. Crude is the one to watch — India imports most of its oil, so a falling crude price is generally good news for our economy, our trade deficit and companies that use oil as a raw material.
| Item | Latest | Change | Comment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brent crude (ICE Jan futures) | $104.41/bbl | +0.12% | Steady this morning after Monday’s slide |
| Brent crude (2 Nov close) | $104.77/bbl | −7.63% | Big fall on Iran peace-talk hopes |
| WTI crude | $96.63/bbl | — | Quoted around 7:36 AM IST |
| Rupee (USD/INR, 2 Nov close) | ₹94.86 | −10 paise | Provisional; Reuters put the close at ₹94.90 |
| Dollar index | 101.6 | Lower | Softer dollar overseas |
| Gold futures | — | −0.38% | Level not published |
| Silver futures | — | −1.08% | Level not published |
A gentle reminder on jargon: bbl means barrel, and paise is 1/100th of a rupee — so a 10-paise fall means the rupee weakened by ₹0.10 against the dollar.
2. GIFT Nifty Today (SGX Nifty): The First Pre-Market Indicator
GIFT Nifty is the Nifty futures contract that trades at GIFT City in Gujarat. It used to be called SGX Nifty when it traded in Singapore, and many traders still use the old name out of habit. Because it trades for far longer hours than our cash market, it is the first rough hint of how the NSE pre market mood is shaping up before 9:15 AM.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| GIFT Nifty futures | 23,519.50 |
| Change vs its own previous close | +279.50 (+1.20%) |
| Its previous close | 23,240.00 |
| Day’s open | 23,554.00 |
| Day’s high | 23,588.00 |
| Day’s low | 23,505.50 |
| Premium over Nifty 50 spot close (23,440.80) | about +79 points |
| Snapshot time | 03 Nov 2026, 8:13 AM IST |
So GIFT Nifty is sitting roughly 79 points above where Nifty 50 actually closed yesterday. On its own, that points to a slightly higher start. But it is only an indication, not a promise — GIFT Nifty quotes shift minute by minute, and the gap often shrinks or flips by the time the bell rings. Business Standard quoted it around 23,513–23,537 between 7:36 AM and 8:04 AM, which tells you how much it moves in half an hour.
3. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex Today: Previous Close
Monday was the third straight day of gains. BSE Sensex today starts from a much higher base after that rally. Note that Monday was the first session of this week, so the “week so far” change is the same as Monday’s change.
| Index | Close (2 Nov 2026) | Day Change | Day % | Week So Far % |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BSE Sensex | 75,692.78 | +1,233 | +1.66% | +1.66% |
| Nifty 50 | 23,440.80 | +387.70 | +1.68% | +1.68% |
| Nifty Bank | 55,002.20 | +315.25 | +0.58% | +0.58% |
| Nifty Midcap 100 | — | — | +1.19% | +1.19% |
| Nifty Smallcap 100 | — | — | +0.71% | +0.71% |
The rally was very lopsided by sector. Energy did the heavy lifting while pharma sat it out.
| Category | Detail |
|---|---|
| Best-performing sector | Nifty Oil and Gas, up 5.95% |
| Weakest sector | Nifty Pharma, almost flat at −0.07% |
| Nifty 50 top gainers | Reliance Industries, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Coal India, Shriram Finance |
| Nifty 50 top losers | Infosys, ICICI Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Axis Bank |
| Market breadth | Broader markets also closed positive |
Percentage moves for individual gainers and losers were not published in our sources, so we have listed them in the order reported rather than invent figures.
Nifty Support and Resistance Levels for Today
These are simply the price zones analysts and option traders say they are keeping an eye on. They are for reference, not forecasts. Support is a level where buying has tended to show up; resistance is where selling has tended to appear. Neither is guaranteed to hold.
| Level Type | Nifty 50 | Nifty Bank |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate support (daily view, 2 Nov wrap) | 23,300 | 54,800 |
| Immediate resistance (daily view, 2 Nov wrap) | 23,500 | 55,200 |
| Weekly support band (1 Nov outlook) | 22,950–22,900 | 54,400–54,200 |
| Weekly major support | 22,600–22,350 | 54,000–53,600 |
| Weekly resistance band (1 Nov outlook) | 23,120–23,200 | 55,000–55,100 |
| Weekly major resistance | 23,550–23,650 | 55,400–55,700 |
| Option-chain OI support / resistance | 23,000 / 24,000 | — |
| India VIX (2 Nov, 4:10 PM) | 15.50 | — |
Worth noting honestly: the weekly bands above were published on 1 November, before Monday’s 388-point jump, and Nifty has already closed above the weekly resistance band of 23,120–23,200. Levels get stale fast after a big move. The publisher itself calls these “indicative technical monitoring zones, not guaranteed turning points.”
India VIX at 15.50 is the market’s “fear gauge” — it measures how much volatility option prices are building in over the next 30 days. A reading in the mid-teens is fairly calm by Indian standards.
4. FII DII Data Today: Monday, 2 November 2026 (₹ Crore)
FII DII data today is one of the simplest ways to see who is actually putting money in. FIIs (Foreign Institutional Investors) are overseas funds; DIIs (Domestic Institutional Investors) are our own mutual funds, insurers and pension funds. These are provisional cash-market figures from the exchanges.
| Category | Gross Buy | Gross Sell | Net |
|---|---|---|---|
| FII / FPI | — | — | +3,114.68 |
| DII | — | — | −392.20 |
| Period | FII Net | DII Net |
|---|---|---|
| Monday, 2 Nov 2026 | +3,114.68 | −392.20 |
| Week so far (2 Nov onwards) | +3,114.68 | −392.20 |
| November so far | +3,114.68 | −392.20 |
Reading it simply: foreign funds bought about ₹3,115 crore net in the cash segment, while domestic institutions were small net sellers of about ₹392 crore. Because Monday was both the first session of the week and the first session of November, the weekly and monthly running totals are identical to Monday’s figure. Gross buy and gross sell values were not available on the sources we checked, so those cells are left blank rather than filled with estimates.

7. F&O Today: Nifty Expiry, Open Interest and F&O Ban List
If you are new to F&O (futures and options), here are the four ideas you need, in plain language.
Open interest (OI) is simply the number of contracts currently lying open — not yet squared off. Rising OI with a rising price usually means fresh buyers are joining in; rising OI with a falling price suggests fresh selling. It tells you where the crowd has parked its money.
Put-Call Ratio (PCR) divides total put open interest by total call open interest. Above 1 means more puts are open than calls, which is traditionally read as a steadier-to-positive tone, because put sellers are usually confident. Very high readings can also mean the trade is crowded.
Max pain is the strike price at which the largest number of option buyers would lose money if the index expired exactly there. It is a statistical observation about where option writers are best placed, not a target and not a forecast.
MWPL stands for Market Wide Position Limit. Every F&O stock has a cap on how many open contracts the whole market can hold. Cross 95% of that cap and the NSE puts the stock in the F&O ban list today — meaning no new F&O positions, though you can still square off existing ones and still trade the stock normally in the cash segment for delivery.
| Item | Value (as of 2 Nov, 4:10 PM) |
|---|---|
| Put-Call Ratio (PCR) | 1.6609 |
| Change-in-OI PCR | 2.5318 |
| Max pain strike | 23,250 |
| Option-chain OI resistance | 24,000 |
| Option-chain OI support | 23,000 |
| Option-chain expected range | 23,304.75 – 23,576.85 |
| Nifty lot size | 65 |
| India VIX | 15.50 |
Put OI is heavier at the 23,000 strike, which makes it the thicker support wall on the option chain, while 24,000 carries the heavier call build-up. Again — this is where positions sit today, not where the index is headed.
| Stock | F&O Ban Status Today (3 Nov 2026) |
|---|---|
| Kaynes Technology India | In ban — MWPL at 90.43% (previous 92.17%) |
| Bandhan Bank | Listed as a possible entrant |
| Manappuram Finance | Listed as a possible entrant |
| LIC Housing Finance | Listed as a possible entrant |
| Ambuja Cements | Listed as a possible entrant |
| Inox Wind | Listed as a possible entrant |
| Vodafone Idea | Listed as a possible entrant |

On expiry dates: Nifty weekly contracts expire on Tuesdays — so that’s today. Sensex weekly contracts expire on Thursdays, which this week is 5 November. The monthly F&O series normally settles on the last Tuesday of the month, but in November 2026 that Tuesday (24 November) is an NSE holiday for Guru Nanak Jayanti, so the monthly expiry date will shift. Please check the exchange circular for the confirmed date rather than assuming.
FAQs: Share Market Today (3 November 2026)
What is GIFT Nifty today?
GIFT Nifty futures were quoted at 23,519.50 at 8:13 AM IST, up 279.50 points or 1.20% from their own previous close of 23,240. That is roughly 79 points above Nifty 50’s spot close of 23,440.80, which points to a modestly higher start. It is an indication only and keeps moving until the market opens.
What were the Nifty 50 and Sensex closing levels yesterday?
On Monday, 2 November 2026, the Nifty 50 closed at 23,440.80, up 387.70 points or 1.68%. The BSE Sensex closed at 75,692.78, up about 1,233 points or 1.66%. It was the third straight session of gains.
What are the Nifty support and resistance levels today?
Analysts flagged immediate support around 23,300 and immediate resistance around 23,500 in Monday’s market wrap, while the option chain shows OI support at 23,000 and OI resistance at 24,000. For Nifty Bank, the zones cited were 54,800 support and 55,200 resistance. These are reference levels being watched, not forecasts.
What is the FII DII data for 2 November 2026?
FIIs were net buyers of ₹3,114.68 crore in the cash segment, while DIIs were net sellers of ₹392.20 crore. These are provisional exchange figures. Gross buy and gross sell breakdowns were not available.
When is the Nifty expiry this week?
Nifty weekly options and futures expire today, Tuesday 3 November 2026. Sensex weekly contracts expire on Thursday, 5 November. The monthly series usually settles on the month’s last Tuesday, but 24 November 2026 is an NSE holiday, so check the exchange circular for the revised monthly expiry date.
Which stocks are in the F&O ban list today?
Kaynes Technology India is in the NSE F&O ban list for 3 November 2026, with MWPL utilisation at 90.43%. Bandhan Bank, Manappuram Finance, LIC Housing Finance, Ambuja Cements, Inox Wind and Vodafone Idea are flagged as possible entrants, and SAIL as a possible exit. A ban only blocks new F&O positions — cash-segment trading continues as usual.
Why are Asian markets falling today when Wall Street’s Dow rose?
Because the two were pulled by different forces. The Dow gained 0.41% on strength in industrials, financials and consumer names, helped by crude oil crashing more than 7%. But the Nasdaq fell 1.07% as investors sold technology shares over concerns about how much the big AI companies are spending. Asia is more tech- and chip-heavy, so it followed the Nasdaq rather than the Dow — the KOSPI fell 2.4% and the Nikkei 0.33%.
Is the Indian stock market open today, 3 November 2026?
Yes. Tuesday 3 November 2026 is a normal trading day. NSE and BSE trade from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM IST, with the pre-open session from 9:00 AM. The next NSE trading holidays in November 2026 are 10 November (Diwali-Balipratipada) and 24 November (Guru Nanak Jayanti).
