Stock Market Today, 2 November 2026: GIFT Nifty, Sensex and Nifty Pre-Market Cues, FII DII Data and Stocks to Watch
November 2, 2026 | by NammaStockMarket
NSE pre-market report · Data as of 8:40 AM IST, 2 November 2026 · NSE and BSE open at 9:15 AM IST
Good morning, and welcome to a slightly confusing Monday. Here is the situation over a cup of chai: share market today has two stories pulling in opposite directions. GIFT Nifty today is trading comfortably higher, pointing to a gap-up start for Nifty 50 and Sensex. But Wall Street had an ugly Friday night, with the Nasdaq falling almost 3% as technology and AI-linked stocks were hammered.
So which one wins? We genuinely do not know, and we will not pretend to. If you came looking for a “Nifty prediction today”, you will not find one here — we don’t make predictions. What you will find is the actual data: Friday’s closing numbers, FII DII data, global cues, option-chain positioning, the F&O expiry calendar and the full list of companies whose results and corporate actions put them in the news this morning. You decide what to do with it.
One quick note before we start: today is a bank holiday in some states, but the stock market is open. NSE and BSE both have a normal trading session today. The next market holiday is Tuesday, 10 November 2026 (Diwali-Balipratipada).
1. Global Market Cues Today: US Markets, Asian Markets, Crude Oil and Rupee
Let’s start overseas, because that is where Friday’s drama happened. Global market cues today are mixed-to-weak — US markets fell sharply after Indian markets had already shut on Friday.
US Markets: Friday, 30 October 2026 Close
| Index | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Dow Jones Industrial Average | 51,785.82 | −1.06% |
| S&P 500 | 7,578.97 | −1.83% |
| Nasdaq Composite | 25,442.31 | −2.84% |
| Russell 2000 (smallcaps) | 2,801.16 | −2.03% |
| CBOE VIX (US fear index) | 19.42 | +12.91% |
In points, the Dow shed roughly 572 points, the S&P 500 about 140 points and the Nasdaq about 748 points.
What caused it? A brutal round of technology earnings. Intel crashed around 29% — its worst single day since 1974 — after weak guidance for the December quarter, blamed on a slowdown in PCs and a factory accident in Israel. Reddit also fell about 29% after soft revenue guidance raised fears that AI chatbots are eating into website traffic. Alphabet (Google’s parent) dropped about 12.6% on weak free cash flow, and ServiceNow fell around 27%. The S&P 500’s technology sector fell nearly 5% as a group, and close to 70% of all US stocks ended lower.
The one comfort: US bond yields eased, with the 10-year Treasury yield slipping to about 4.917%.
Asian Markets
Asian markets are broadly lower this morning as they react to Friday’s US selloff. Friday’s own closing levels in Asia were:
| Index | Close | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Nikkei 225 (Japan) | 63,290 | −2.12% |
| Hang Seng (Hong Kong) | 23,294 | +1.46% |
| Shanghai Composite (China) | 3,599 | −1.44% |
Today’s live Asian levels were not available at the time of writing, so we are not going to make them up. Early reports describe broad declines across most Asian markets this morning.
Crude Oil and the Rupee
| Item | Latest | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Brent crude (2 Nov) | $110.68 / bbl | −2.42% |
| WTI crude (2 Nov) | $101.23 / bbl | −2.77% |
| USD/INR (30 Oct close) | ₹94.93 – ₹95.03 | ~−0.29% |
Crude is cooling off this morning, which is good news for India — we import most of our oil, so a softer Brent price helps our import bill, our inflation numbers and the rupee. But keep perspective: crude jumped roughly 14% during October to a six-month high on worries about Iran and the Strait of Hormuz. One day of cooling does not undo that.
The rupee is hovering around the ₹95 mark against the US dollar. A weaker rupee makes imports costlier and is usually a headache for foreign investors holding Indian assets.
2. GIFT Nifty Today (SGX Nifty): The First Pre-Market Indicator
Before NSE opens at 9:15 AM, traders look at GIFT Nifty — the Nifty futures contract that trades at GIFT City in Gujarat. It was earlier called SGX Nifty when it traded in Singapore, and plenty of people still use the old name. Because it trades for far longer hours, it gives the first rough hint of how Indian markets may open.
| Indicator | Reading |
|---|---|
| GIFT Nifty level (around 7:55 AM IST) | ~23,291 |
| Change | +205 points (+0.89%) |
| Earlier snapshot (midnight IST) | 23,242.50 (+182.00 / +0.79%) |
| Previous close | 23,060.50 |
| Last session high / low | 23,271 / 22,940 |
| Nifty 50 spot close, 30 Oct | 23,053.10 |
| What it indicates | A gap-up open of roughly 180–215 points |
A word of caution, because this matters today. GIFT Nifty is pointing up, but US index futures were deep in the red over the weekend and Asian markets are falling. That is an unusual combination, and it means the gap-up signal is less reliable than normal. GIFT Nifty is an indicator, not a promise — it can and does reverse between 8 AM and 9:15 AM, and the opening tick is the only number that actually counts.
3. Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex Today: Previous Close
Friday was a good day on Dalal Street. BSE Sensex today starts from a higher base, and the Nifty managed to reclaim the psychologically important 23,000 mark. But look past the headline indices and the picture is less cheerful — midcaps and smallcaps both fell, which tells you the buying was narrow and concentrated in large-cap IT.
| Index / Item | Close (30 Oct 2026) | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Nifty 50 | 23,053.10 | +116.35 (+0.51%) |
| BSE Sensex | 74,459.53 | +308.49 (+0.42%) |
| Sensex intraday high | 74,742.59 | — |
| Nifty Midcap 100 | — | −0.93% |
| Nifty Smallcap 100 | — | −1.85% |
| Nifty IT | — | +2.32% |
| Nifty Consumer Durables | — | −1.78% |
| Sensex, week ended 30 Oct | — | +1.8% |
| Nifty 50, October 2026 | — | +2.81% |
Closing levels for the Midcap 100, Smallcap 100 and Nifty Bank were not available from our sources this morning, so we have left those cells blank rather than guess.
Nifty Top Gainers and Losers (30 October 2026)

| InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) | Gainer | +4.6% |
| Infosys | Gainer | +3.4% |
| Sun Pharma | Gainer | over +2% |

Nifty Support and Resistance Levels for Today
These are simply the levels showing up on traders’ screens and in option-chain data. They are for reference, not forecasts — nobody can tell you where the Nifty will close.
| Level type | Nifty 50 | Why it is being watched |
|---|---|---|
| Immediate resistance | 23,500 | Heaviest Call open interest sits here |
| Max pain level | 23,000 | Strike where most option buyers would lose |
| Immediate support | 22,000 | Heaviest Put open interest sits here |
| Option-implied range | 22,868 – 23,238 | Range the option market priced in at Friday’s close |
| India VIX | 15.30 (+0.18) | Volatility gauge; higher than 70% of the past year’s readings |
What is India VIX? Think of it as the market’s nervousness meter. It estimates how much the Nifty is expected to swing over the next 30 days. A reading of 15.30 is moderate — not panic, but not complacent either.
What is “max pain”? It is the strike price at which the largest number of option buyers would lose money if the index expired right there. Option writers (sellers) often have an interest in the index drifting toward that level. It is a positioning statistic, not a target.
4. FII DII Data Today: Friday, 30 October 2026 (₹ Crore)
FII DII data today is where you can see who is actually putting money in. FIIs are Foreign Institutional Investors — overseas funds. DIIs are Domestic Institutional Investors — our own mutual funds, insurance companies and pension funds, largely powered by your monthly SIP money.
Friday brought a rare switch: foreigners bought and domestic institutions sold.
| Category | Net figure (30 Oct 2026) | Action |
|---|---|---|
| FII (cash market) | +₹3,599 Cr | Net buyers |
| DII (cash market) | −₹818 Cr | Net sellers |
| Combined institutional flow | +₹2,781 Cr | Net buying |
Gross buy and gross sell break-ups were not published on our data sources this morning, so only net figures are shown above.
Zoom out and the longer trend is still the familiar one — foreigners selling, domestic money absorbing it:
| Period | FII net | DII net |
|---|---|---|
| Last 30 sessions | −₹84,743 Cr | +₹1,06,669 Cr |
| October 2026 | −₹45,162 Cr | +₹62,220 Cr |
A few extra data points worth knowing: Friday was only the first session of an FII buying streak, so one green day does not make a trend. In index futures, FIIs were carrying about 2,40,753 net short contracts — meaning their derivatives positioning was still defensive even while they bought in the cash market. And over the last 30 sessions, DIIs absorbed roughly 126% of what FIIs sold. That is your SIP money quietly doing the heavy lifting.

7. F&O Today: Nifty Expiry, Open Interest and F&O Ban List
If you are new to F&O (Futures and Options), here is the quick version. A futures contract is an agreement to buy or sell something at a set price on a future date. An option gives you the right, but not the obligation, to do so. Both are traded in fixed lot sizes, both expire on set dates, and both can lose money much faster than delivery-based investing.
This Week’s Expiry Calendar
| Contract | Expiry day |
|---|---|
| Nifty weekly options | Tuesday, 3 November 2026 |
| Sensex weekly options | Thursday, 5 November 2026 |
| Monthly F&O (November series) | Monday, 23 November 2026 |
Note on the monthly expiry: it is normally the last Tuesday of the month, which would be 25 November. But 24 November is Guru Nanak Jayanti, a trading holiday, so the November series is set to expire on Monday 23 November. Always check the exchange circular before assuming an expiry date.
Open Interest and PCR: The Jargon, Explained
| Term | What it means | Friday’s reading |
|---|---|---|
| Open Interest (OI) | The total number of F&O contracts still open and not yet settled. Rising OI means fresh money entering a position | — |
| Put-Call Ratio (PCR) | Put OI divided by Call OI. Above 1 means more puts than calls are open; traders often read very high values as over-stretched | 1.60 |
| Max pain | The strike where the largest number of option buyers would lose at expiry | 23,000 |
| Highest Call OI | The strike with the most Call contracts open — usually treated as resistance | 23,500 |
| Highest Put OI | The strike with the most Put contracts open — usually treated as support | 22,000 |
| MWPL | Market Wide Position Limit — the cap on total F&O positions allowed in a single stock | — |
A PCR of 1.60 means significantly more Put open interest than Call open interest. Interpretations of this differ widely among analysts, so treat it as one input among many, not a signal.
F&O Ban List Today
When open positions in a stock cross 95% of its MWPL, the exchange puts that stock in the F&O ban list. You can still square off existing positions, but you cannot open fresh ones until the ban lifts. It is a risk-control measure, not a punishment, and it usually signals that speculative activity in that name has become crowded.
As per the latest published list (dated 1 November 2026, calculated on Friday’s positions):
| Stock | MWPL utilisation |
|---|---|
| Kaynes Technology India | 99.68% |
| Steel Authority of India (SAIL) | 85.35% |
Stocks sitting in the 60–85% MWPL band and flagged as possible entrants include Manappuram Finance, Bandhan Bank, LIC Housing Finance, Ambuja Cements, Inox Wind and Vodafone Idea. Please check the official NSE ban list for today before placing any F&O order — the final list for each session is published by the exchange.
