Nifty Sensex Next Week Banner 9-13 Nov 2026

Nifty Sensex next week starts with a short, four-day stretch on the NSE and BSE, right after the biggest weekly rally the Indian stock market has seen in years. Last week (2-6 November 2026), the Nifty 50 jumped 8.58% and the Sensex climbed 8.82%, as foreign investors came back with big buying even while US tech stocks were falling. Now the Diwali season brings a market holiday into the mix, so this week needs a bit of extra planning. Let’s go through the 12 things you should check before Monday’s opening bell, in simple words, so you are ready and not caught off guard.

Quick recap: how NSE and BSE closed last week

Before we plan Nifty Sensex next week, here is a one-line recap: last week was one of the strongest weeks for the Indian share market in a long time. The Nifty 50 and Sensex both rallied over 8% in just five sessions, led by financial stocks, as FIIs (foreign institutional investors) turned big buyers again. Here are the closing numbers from NSE and BSE for Friday, 6 November 2026, and the change over the week.

Index Close (6 Nov 2026) Weekly Change
NSE Nifty 50 25,030.35 +1,977.25 pts (+8.58%)
BSE Sensex 81,028.02 +6,568.49 pts (+8.82%)
NSE Bank Nifty 59,086.00 +4,399.05 pts (+8.04%)
Nifty Midcap 100 – +5.77%
Nifty Smallcap 100 – +2.77%
India VIX 17.47 +12.10% (Friday alone)

This also happened to be Diwali week, so Samvat 2083 (the new Hindu financial year) began with the special one-hour Muhurat trading session on Sunday, 8 November 2026. If you missed how we got here, our preview of last week’s market and the Dhanteras rally write-up cover it in detail. Now, as we head into the fresh week, here are the 12 things worth checking before you plan your trades.

1. GIFT Nifty and global cues for Monday’s opening

GIFT Nifty (the Nifty futures that trade in GIFT City, Gujarat, almost round the clock) is usually the first clue to how Dalal Street will open. Over the weekend, keep an eye on it, because global markets were shaky last week – the Nasdaq fell about 3.37% and the S&P 500 nearly 2.68% as investors pulled money out of AI and tech stocks worldwide. Interestingly, the Indian stock market did not follow this fall; it rallied on its own strength. Still, check GIFT Nifty and Asian market cues (Nikkei, Hang Seng, Kospi) early Monday morning before you take a trading call – our daily pre-market report is a good place to track these cues each day.

2. Market holiday alert: NSE and BSE shut on Tuesday

Simple point to remember: this is a short trading week. NSE and BSE will stay closed on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, for Diwali-Balipratipada. That leaves only four trading sessions this week – Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. If you have pending orders, SIP (systematic investment plan) debit dates, or F&O positions, plan around this share market holiday so you are not caught off guard mid-week.

3. FII and DII money flow in ₹ crore – will the buying continue?

FII and DII data is one of the first things traders check every morning, and last week it told a dramatic story. FIIs (foreign institutional investors) net bought shares worth about ₹45,960 crore between 2 and 6 November 2026 – they were net buyers for 14 sessions in a row. DIIs (domestic institutional investors, mainly mutual funds and insurance companies), on the other hand, turned net sellers, offloading around ₹24,197 crore in the same period, likely booking profits after the sharp rally. Keep watching the daily FII DII data this week on NSE’s provisional figures – if foreign buying slows down or reverses, it could cool off the rally.

4. India VIX – the market’s fear gauge

India VIX measures how much swing traders expect in the Nifty over the next 30 days. A higher VIX means more nervousness and bigger price swings; a lower VIX means a calmer market. India VIX had eased to around 15.2 earlier in the week after the monthly F&O expiry, but it jumped back up by about 12% on Friday to close near 17.47, as the market digested such a fast rally. Keep an eye on VIX this week – if it stays elevated, expect sharper moves on both sides, especially around the Tuesday holiday gap.

5. Rupee vs US dollar and Brent crude – the two global pressure points

Two numbers quietly decide a lot about Indian markets: the rupee and crude oil. Last week, the rupee had its best weekly show of 2026, strengthening to around ₹94 per US dollar, supported by the heavy FII inflows and a sharp fall in crude prices. Brent crude dropped sharply during the week, briefly slipping below US$100 a barrel before settling closer to $98, which is good news for India since we import most of our oil. A weaker crude and a stronger rupee together usually help market sentiment, so track both this week – any reversal here can quickly change the mood on NSE and BSE.

6. Bank Nifty and Nifty weekly F&O expiry – watch the holiday shift

Nifty 50 weekly options currently expire every Tuesday on the NSE, after NSE moved the expiry day from Thursday to Tuesday last year. Simple point: since Tuesday, 10 November, is a trading holiday this week, the weekly expiry is very likely to shift to the previous trading day, Monday, 9 November – but please confirm this with your broker or the latest NSE circular before you plan any F&O (futures and options) trade, since exchanges sometimes adjust these differently. Bank Nifty no longer has weekly options (these were discontinued back in November 2024); it now expires on the last Tuesday of the month. On the options front, Nifty’s open interest (OI) data was showing a put-call ratio (PCR) of around 0.57 going into the week, which is on the lower side and suggests some caution among options traders despite the rally.

7. Nifty 50 support and resistance levels to watch next week

If you are a trader who watches charts, here are the broad zones many analysts are flagging for the Nifty this week. Please remember these are technical reference points, not predictions or targets.

  • Nifty 50 support: immediate support near 24,800-24,900; a deeper support zone at 24,600-24,400, and a major floor around 24,000-24,200.
  • Nifty 50 resistance: immediate hurdle at 25,100-25,200; a recovery zone of 25,300-25,500, and a major resistance band at 25,600-25,800.
  • Bank Nifty support: 58,500-58,800, with deeper support at 57,500-58,000.
  • Bank Nifty resistance: 59,200-59,500, and a bigger hurdle at 59,800-60,200.

8. Sector watch: who led last week, who lagged

Not every sector moved the same way. On Friday alone, financial services led with a gain of about 2.57%, followed by consumer durables, pharma, auto, FMCG and metal stocks, all ending higher. IT and realty barely moved, and energy stocks were the only ones in the red. Banking, financials and auto stocks were the biggest drivers of the week’s rally overall. This week, watch whether banks and financials can keep leading, or whether IT and other laggard sectors catch up as money rotates around the Indian share market.

9. IPO and listing update – a quiet week on the primary market

After a few busy weeks, the IPO (initial public offering) calendar looks quiet for 9-13 November 2026, with no new mainboard or SME IPO opening for subscription. Two SME IPOs that were open earlier are listing this week though – keep an eye on their debut if you had applied.

Company Segment Price Band Listing Date
Vedant Poly Fabs SME – NSE Emerge ₹88 – ₹94 9 Nov 2026
Antala Industries SME – BSE SME ₹62 – ₹66 11 Nov 2026

Remember, SME IPOs carry higher risk than mainboard IPOs because of lower liquidity, so if you are new to investing, read the risk factors carefully before applying to any SME IPO, and never invest money you may need soon.

10. RBI, economic calendar and Q2 FY27 results

There is no RBI MPC (Monetary Policy Committee) meeting this week – the next one is scheduled for 2-4 December 2026, so interest rates stay unchanged for now. That said, many companies are still reporting their July-September 2026 quarter numbers (Q2 FY27, following India’s April-to-March financial year), so stay tuned to quarterly results and management commentary, as individual stock results can move the market even on an otherwise quiet week for big policy events.

11. Keep watching the F&O ban list

Every day, NSE publishes a list of stocks under an F&O ban – this happens when a stock’s open interest in futures and options crosses 95% of the market-wide position limit. You cannot create new F&O positions in a banned stock, only reduce existing ones. With volatility running a bit high this week, check the F&O ban list daily on the NSE website before placing any derivatives trade, especially around the Tuesday holiday and the expiry-day shift.

12. A simple reminder for SIP investors and demat account safety

If you invest through a mutual fund SIP (systematic investment plan), a sharp rally like last week’s is not a reason to stop your SIP or chase more returns – SIPs work best when you stay consistent through ups and downs. Separately, do a quick demat account and trading account check this week: make sure your KYC details are updated, enable two-factor login if you have not already, and never share your OTP, password or login details with anyone, even someone claiming to be from your broker or exchange. SEBI and the exchanges regularly warn investors about fraud calls and fake trading apps – a little caution goes a long way.

Quick checklist for Monday morning

  • Remember NSE and BSE are shut on Tuesday, 10 November, for Diwali-Balipratipada.
  • Look at the FII DII data from Friday and the Muhurat trading session.
  • Note India VIX – higher VIX means be ready for sharper swings.
  • Track the rupee vs dollar and Brent crude for global cues.
  • Confirm this week’s Nifty F&O expiry day with your broker (likely shifted due to the holiday).
  • Keep Nifty’s 24,800-25,200 zone and Bank Nifty’s 58,500-59,500 zone in view.

  • If you applied for Vedant Poly Fabs or Antala Industries SME IPOs, track their listing.
  • Keep your SIPs running and your demat account login secure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What time does NSE and BSE open on Monday?
NSE and BSE open at 9:15 AM and close at 3:30 PM, Indian Standard Time (IST), Monday to Friday. Pre-open session runs from 9:00 AM to 9:15 AM.

Is there any market holiday next week on NSE and BSE?
Yes. NSE and BSE will remain closed on Tuesday, 10 November 2026, for Diwali-Balipratipada. Markets are open as usual on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

Which sectors to watch in the Indian share market next week?
Banking, financial services and auto stocks led last week’s rally and are worth watching for follow-through. IT and energy stocks lagged behind, so any catch-up move there could also be worth tracking.

Why did Nifty and Sensex rally so much last week?
A big return of FII buying (around ₹45,960 crore in five sessions), a sharp fall in crude oil prices, and a stronger rupee all came together to push the Nifty 50 up 8.58% and the Sensex up 8.82% in just one week. That rally is exactly why so many readers are searching for Nifty Sensex next week updates right now.

What is India VIX and why does it matter for Nifty next week?
India VIX shows how much volatility options traders expect in the Nifty over the next month. It rose to around 17.47 last week, so a bit more caution and wider price swings are possible this week, especially around the midweek holiday.
